This rebate program provides an opportunity for customers to save energy and money through lighting upgrades.

We’re offering a series of kick-off informational sessions this month for owners/operators of local restaurants and retail businesses. Join us to learn how you can save money and help the environment by entering this friendly competition.

Why Green is good for business

According to ENERGY STAR External link, restaurants use five to seven times more energy per square foot than other commercial buildings. Strategic investments can help cut utility costs 10-30% without sacrificing service, quality, style or comfort. For the average retail store, a 10% decrease in energy costs is equal to increasing sales by more than 1.25%.

This year’s Green Games External link will run from October 2012 to October 2013. Competitors’ efforts are evaluated at the end of the 12-month period based on a number of environmental-friendly, energy and cost saving measures. Restaurants and Retailers must register and complete their baseline scorecard by December 31, 2012 to compete in the program.
